DAY ONE - WEDNESDAY

Central Park and Midtown

Today will begin at the Museum of Natural History on Manhattan's Upper West Side. After spending a couple of hours in the museum you will walk through Central Park toward your lunch destination in Midtown, Black Tap. After lunch you will take a short walk through Midtown, passing notable shops and landmarks, as you make your way to Rockefeller Plaza, up to Top of the Rock and the Empire State Building . You will be perfectly situated to walk just a few blocks to your dinner reservation and on to Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theater.

Morning

 

9:30 a.m. Take a car to the Museum of Natural History.

10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.  American Museum of Natural History, 200 Central Park West. Make reservation here.

 

Afternoon

 

Walk south through Central Park toward Black Tap. (30 min. walk)

1:00 p.m. Lunch at Black Tap, 136 W 55th St.

From Black Tap walk east on 55th St. to 5th Ave. then south on 5th Ave.

Pass St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

Continue west on 49th St. to Rockefeller Plaza (10 min. walk)

3:00 p.m. Top of the Rock, 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Make reservation here.

Optional: Empire State Building, 20 W 34th St. Make reservation here.

Evening

 

From Top of the Rock walk west one block on 50th St.

Pass Radio City Music Hall.

Walk one block south on 6th Ave.

5:00 p.m. Dinner at Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse, 1221 6th Ave.

Walk one block west to 7th Ave. then two blocks south to 46th St.

8:00 p.m. Richard Rodgers Theater, 226 W 46th St.

DAY TWO - THURSDAY

Lower Manhattan

Today will be focused on significant pieces of American history as you begin your day with a car ride down to Battery Park where you will board a ferry and tour both Liberty Island and Ellis Island. After the tour you will walk toward One World Trade Center to have lunch and tour the grounds of the 9/11 Memorial. Afterward you will spend a couple of hours in the National September 11th Museum. Keeping an eye on the time will be important as you will need to be back up to Midtown for a dinner reservation and a short walk over to the Gershwin Theater for Wicked.

Morning

 

9:00 a.m. Take a car to Battery Park, Castle Clinton National Monument, in Lower Manhattan.

10:00 a.m. Board Statue City Cruises for tour of Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Make reservation here.

Afternoon

 

1:00 p.m. Disembark and walk north toward One World Trade Center, 285 Fulton St. Make reservation here.

Lunch Options:

  • Gansevoort Liberty Market, Rustic-industrial food hall with a variety of popular counter-serve eateries. 101 Liberty St. Inside the Oculus Center.
  • Shake Shack, Hip counter-serve chain for gourmet burgers and frozen custard. 200 Broadway #2010. Inside the Fulton Center.

2:30 p.m. 9/11 Memorial Pools, 180 Greenwich St.

3:00 p.m. National September 11th Museum. Make reservation here.

4:45 p.m.  Take a car to dinner.

Evening

 

5:30 p.m.  Ocean Prime, 123 W 52nd St.

Walk west one block on 52nd Ave to 7th Ave. then one block south on 7th Ave to 51st St.

Walk west 1.5 blocks on 51st.

7:00 p.m. The Gershwin Theater, 222 W. 51st St.
