Pennsylvania Travel Guide

About Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania, a northeastern U.S. state and one of the 13 original colonies, has a diverse terrain, which includes wide stretches of farmland, national forests and mountains. Philadelphia, the Keystone State’s largest city, displays its rich history in Independence Hall (where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed) and the Liberty Bell, an enduring symbol of American freedom.

Bank & Bourbon features an innovative barrel-aging program for house aged liquors

Philadelphia guide

Philadelphia; the city that brought us cheesesteaks and Rocky. It’s a land where one can easily walk from the birthplace of the constitution to a drag bar. Where visitors can explore haunted prisons and drink gourmet cocktails made by an Iron Chef. Here the exploring never stops. We headed into town for a weekend of art, culture and eating to find our recommendations on how you can experience this artsy yet historic city.

Harry Potter Festival

Wizardry and wonder fills the air each October when Chestnut Hill transforms for the Harry Potter Festival.

The annual blockbuster festival takes over the charming town on Friday, October 21, and Saturday, October 22, for two days of spellbinding events that magically morph the neighborhood into the much-loved fictional world created by author J.K. Rowling.

Potter fans of all ages can enjoy an enchanting weekend of film screenings, sorting hat demonstrations, a scavenger hunt and more.

Mica Restaurant

Mica is a restaurant located in Chestnut Hill. Taking the reins from chef Chip Roman, former chef de cuisine Yianni Arhontoulis transforms this compact, “modernist” Chestnut Hill townhouse into a tasting menu–optional BYO that still dials back any “temple-of-gastronomy” mystique; Roman’s taste for seafood remains, and the kitchen works with elevated techniques to create well-conceived plates like roasted eggplant with bonito and basil or salmon with wheat berries – dishes that you probably “wouldn’t touch elsewhere.”

Chestnut Hill Guide

Designated “Philadelphia’s Garden District” and named “one of the top seven urban enclaves in the country” by Forbes, Chestnut Hill is one of the best kept secrets in the Philadelphia Metro Area. Take an easy 45 minute train ride from Center City, Philadelphia, and you’ll find yourself in this cozy boutique town. We explored the area during a beautiful fall weekend and discovered its unique culture, cuisine and tons of wonderful things to do!
